Paintings at Johnathan Behr, Bespoke Tailor

Posted on October 9, 2017

Recently, famous Los Angeles bespoke tailor Johnathan Behr allowed me into his studio to photograph fittings for a new body of work. I have long been interested in tailoring, and creating images of the process. The first three in the series (the following are oil on canvas, 14×18″):

“Ennui (after Sickert)”

Ennui (after Sickert), part of my “Swedish Landscapes” series.

Walter Sickert is one of my favorite painters, and this image is an homage to, and obviously titled for,  his 1914 painting Ennui. (I even lifted the background painting for my piece.)

The Posers show at ArtShare LA just closed, it was such an incredible venue & I was thrilled to be a part of it. They further included my work on these banners in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Other Landscapes

Posted on April 13, 2017

These are some small landscape paintings, which I consider to be more abstracts. The piece Two Phone Boxes with Franz Kline had this beautiful black & white shape, just like a Franz Kline, but I did not get close enough to see whether it was paint or torn paper. This happy accident will always be a mystery to me.
